Before you take action in making a decision, it is best to first get your laptop diagnosed to identify the problem. Depending on the problem and how difficult it is to fix (time involved), this may be an easy decision to make. If the cost of a new laptop is not much more than the repair and offers important new features, you may want to go with a new purchase. On the other hand, if the fix is relatively easy and cost effective, it may be prudent to repair your current computer.
How much mileage should I expect from my computer?
Unfortunately, there is not an exact science to when a laptop needs replacing as it depends on variables such as: quality, age, usage and function. If your laptop is 5 years or older, it is usually not worth fixing. Three or four year old laptops are in the gray zone. Generally, most laptops under two years are worth repairing.
