Video Production Checklist – Making sure everything is good to go

May 14, 2013

Video-Post.5.14.13When shooting video, it is important to be as still as possible. With the help of a tripod, you can let it do the work of making sure your shot is as still, and as professional as possible. Shakiness or movement can instantly ruin a good take, so make sure it’s stays put! When you’re shooting, it’s important to double check the shot to make sure everything is where it should be and everything that shouldn’t isn’t in your way. Be conscious of what the final product will be, and leave breaks and spaces for titles, credits, and other elements that will unify the entire thing in post-edit. Having a makeup artist on set can do big things for the production value of something your filming. Everyone looks like they’re ready for Hollywood, and that will boost morale throughout the shoot. When filming, it is important to make sure the lighting is right, and if not, to modify or improve its effect on whatever it is your filming. Poor lighting can leave a production feeling dreary and rather cheap, so it’s best to have the light looking as professional as possible. The absolute same principles go for the audio recording. You want the absolute best quality recorders and booms, and you need to get as close to the subject as possible in order to get the best recording. You never know what might happen during the recording, so it’s best to record from multiple sources so you have sound coming from multiple perspectives to use in post-editing if needed. Lastly, you should take proper care of your equipment. It will last you a lot longer, and it will save you a lot of money.
